Juventus’ intention to land Ángel Di María in the summer has gone adrift, with the Bianconeri now targeting Sassuolo’s Domenico Berardi as an alternative.
According to reputed transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio, Domenico Berardi has now emerged as a suitable transfer target for Juventus.
The report understands that Juventus have been keeping tabs on the Italy international since he would pair up with Simone Zaza in the colours of Neroverdi.
Juventus even bought a 50% stake in Berardi’s ownership back in 2013. But, following the repeal of the co-ownership law, Sassuolo had to pay €7.3million back to the Old Lady to recover the player’s rights entirely.
In the 2021/22 season, the 27-year-old notched up 15 league goals and 14 assists under the management of Alessio Dionisi. As per various reports, Juventus are not the only name pursuing Berard’s services this summer, with the likes of Milan and Roma also targeting the forward.
On Juve’s shortlist, however, Berardi’s name comes first after that of Di María, who is closer to joining Barcelona on a free transfer.
