Juventus are planning to sell underperforming midfielder Adrien Rabiot this summer, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Romano also adds that the French midfielder wants to revive his career elsewhere, with a host of Premier League clubs keeping tabs on him.
The Old Lady are preparing for the arrival of Paul Pogba, who has agreed to return to Turin for his second spell on a free transfer.
However, the Italian giants need to slash the wage bill in order to accommodate Pogba – who will reportedly earn around a whopping €8 million per season – hence the chances are high for out-of-favour stars like Rabiot to be sacrificed.
Rabiot arrived at Allianz Arena in 2019 on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain, but his time in Italy has been quite underwhelming.
Unfortunately for the French star, Juve’s downfall in the last season coincided with his inconsistency.
Manchester United are among the clubs monitoring Rabiot’s situation, with several reports claiming that the Premier League outfit have taken steps to sign him in the summer.
The Red Devils are set to embark on a new era under Erik ten Hag, who is eyeing midfield reinforcements to cope with the departures of Nemanja Matic and Pogba.
Frankie de Jong is their priority, but there is a lot of uncertainty whether United would get the deal over the line, with Barcelona demanding a staggering fee of €80m.
Other alternatives like Ruben Neves will also cost much, but United can get the services of Rabiot on a cut-price deal.
The only question remains whether the 27-year-old would be able to adapt to the Premier League, especially when he is not in his best form.
