Serie A giants Juventus picked up a 3-0 defeat against Fiorentina and it piles on the pressure on manager Thiago Motta.
The Bianconeri, as a result of the defeat, dropped out of the top four. They are already out of the Champions League and the Coppa Italia and finishing inside the top four is going to be crucial to Motta’s future, with a host of names already being linked with a move to Juve.
The Bianconeri boss was asked by Sky Italia about his future as manager and he was quizzed directly about whether he could resign and consider leaving on his own terms.
He said, as relayed by TJ: “It would be too easy to do it and I really don’t like easy things. We need to win and we will find a way to add more points to reach our goal which is to be among the top four in the championship, starting from the next one.
“It’s a shame that today there is very little to say and certainly we need to reflect, think and keep a clear head to find solutions for this team. In the next match we will see something different.”
Speaking further about the game, Motta stated that Juventus were great neither in the defensive phase nor in the offensive phase of the game.
“Today we’re not strong either in the defensive phase or in the offensive phase. We struggle in both phases of the game and we have to recover these guys harmoniously and I think that before these two matches we showed another side even having some difficulties, but the reaction has always been there, a very good reaction.
“And finding a way to change the situation and that hasn’t happened in these last two matches. We have to evaluate the next strategy in the next matches, especially in the match against Genoa and then put it into practice.”
At one point two weeks ago, Juve were only six behind league leaders Inter. Failure to win the last two games have changed things completely and the pressure is firmly on Motta.
