After the announcement that Christian Streich will leave Freiburg at the end of the season, the club have acted swiftly in replacing him according to kicker.
Current Coordinator of talent management and former midfielder and captain Julian Schuster will be the man to replace Streich at the Freiburg helm next season with the announcement expected to take place on Thursday or Friday.
Not only will it be a difficult challenge to replace Streich but this will also be Schuster’s first-ever coaching role but there is no better place to learn the ropes than at Freiburg who are known for throwing their players in at the deep end and letting them develop.
The best example has been goalkeeper Noah Atubolu who never played a Bundesliga game before this season but has been trusted as the team’s number one, instead of replacing him with Florian Müller the club are aware that mistakes will be made and it is part of the learning curve.
