Bayern Munich head coach Julian Nagelsmann hasn’t ruled out the Bundesliga champions signing a replacement for Robert Lewandowski.
Speaking at today’s press conference ahead of Bayern’s DFL Supercup against RB Leipzig, Nagelsmann said: “The transfer window is still open for four weeks, something can still happen. We will continue to keep our eyes open to see if anything is happening on the transfer market that may not have happened yet. Or what could still happen.”
Lewandowski joined Barcelona earlier this month for a fee that could reach €50m including bonuses. Prior to the 33-year-old’s departure, Bayern announced the signing of Sadio Mané (30) from Liverpool for a reported €41m. Speaking about the Senegalese forward, Nagelsmann added: “Sadio is a striker, he will definitely play as a striker.”
Whether Bayern sign a replacement for Lewandowski this summer or not, Nagelsmann has the difficult task of finding goals within the team. During his eight years at Bayern, the Poland international scored 344 goals across 375 games across all competitions.
