Josip Stanišić likely to remain at Bayern Munich despite interest from the Premier League

As reported by Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany, 22-year-old defender Josip Stanišić is likely to remain at Bayern Munich despite having loan options from the Premier League and Bundesliga clubs.

The Croatia international played 641 minutes in the Bundesliga last season but feels motivated and wants to compete for a place in Julian Nagelsmann’s Bayern squad.

Before the arrival of Noussair Mazraoui (24) on a free transfer from Ajax, Kicker reported in May that Stanišić wants to remain at the Bundesliga champions rather than leave on loan – the Croatian right-back has three-years remaining on his current deal, which expires in 2025.

Stanišić was in Nagelsmann’s squad to face both Eintracht Frankfurt and Wolfsburg but failed to make a substitute appearance, with Benjamin Pavard the current starting right-back.

However, Stanišić can cover several positions and whilst predominantly a right-back, played at both left-back and in central-defence for Nagelsmann last season.
