Joshua Kimmich lasted just four minutes of Bayern Munich’s game against Darmstadt on Saturday afternoon before he was sent off, meaning that he will miss the Klassiker against Borussia Dortmund next weekend.
It’s a blow for the Rekordmeister, who will likely be without Leon Goretzka and Raphaël Guerreiro, who missed Saturday’s game. Serge Gnabry and Dayot Upamecano are also sidelined as Bayern’s injury problems mount up. That means against Dortmund, we could see a midfield pivot of Konrad Laimer and Jamal Musiala.
There is some hope for Bayern Munich though. Manuel Neuer made his long-awaited return, playing for the first time since his freak skiing accident, in which the 37-year-old fractured his leg, in December last year.
With Dortmund and Bayern, as of now, two of the Bundesliga’s three remaining unbeaten teams, next weekend’s clash will be one to keep an eye on, with Bayer Leverkusen leading the way.
