Jose Mourinho has cast doubts about whether he will stay at Roma beyond this season.
The Portuguese’s current deal at the Giallorossi runs out at the end of this campaign and there has been talk that it is unlikely that he renews his deal and the likelihood is that he will depart when the current campaign ends.
The ex-Tottenham boss spoke to Rai Sport’s TG1 (via Di Marzio) recently in an interview and he was asked about his future and whether any talks have been held about his potential renewal.
Mourinho said: “Will I stay here? I don’t know. The last time I spoke to Mister Dan, I was on the phone for ten minutes after the end of the Lazio match, in my office. Last week I spoke with Ryan, we talk about today and today’s work, not about renewal.”
Mourinho was linked with an exit from Roma at the end of last season as well but the Portuguese stayed, despite interest from the Middle East and despite an offer from the Portugual national team in January. He has a fascinating emotional connection with Roma fans and it is very obvious to see whenever Roma play.
Whether Mourinho stays at Roma or not is something only time will tell, but he has made a mark amongst the hearts of Giallorossi faithfuls already.
