According to L’Équipe, the priority of football agent Jorge Mendes during the summer transfer window is to renegotiate a new contract for Lamine Yamal (17) at Barcelona. The La Masia graduate starred in Spain’s EURO 2024 win in Germany and his boyhood club are looking to tie him down to a new deal to prevent interest from other clubs.
Paris Saint-Germain have admired Yamal for several months and even contemplated launching a €200m bid for the Barcelona starlet, according to Le Parisien. However, with Joan Laporta unwilling to be seen as the president who let Lionel Messi leave the club and sold perhaps their most promising academy product since the Argentine, a sale for the 17-year-old has been ruled out.
A busy summer for Mendes
Jorge Mendes is set for a busy summer now that the international football competitions have finished with several potential deals involving PSG. L’Équipe report that the Portuguese football agent could be involved as many as three deals involving the Ligue 1 champions during the summer.
