Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson is on the brink of leaving Anfield for Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq after completing his medical tests, according to The Athletic.
Al-Ettifaq and Liverpool reached an agreement worth £12 million for Henderson earlier this week, who was quick to okay the deal after receiving an enormous contract proposal.
The 33-year-old is set to pen a three-year contract and will reunite with former teammate Steven Gerrard, who has been appointed as the new manager of the Saudi club.
Henderson will bring his 12-year spell at Anfield to an end, during which he won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup.
The Reds skipper has been a vital cog in the club’s resurgence under Jurgen Klopp, helping the Merseysiders move into the upper echelons of the Premier League.
However, Henderson’s form has dipped significantly over the past couple of seasons.
Henderson will follow Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner and Roberto Firmino out of the club this summer.
More departures could be on the cards, with Thiago Alcantara and Fabinho linked with moves away from Anfield.
Fabinho remains the subject of heavy transfer interest from Al-Ittihad, who have been locked in negotiations with the Merseysiders and are optimistic about his signing.
Having already welcomed Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai this summer, Liverpool are targeting more signings to complete their midfield overhaul.
Crystal Palace’s Cheick Doucoure, Romeo Lavia of Southampton, Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni and Fulham’s Joao Palhinha are among the names on Liverpool’s list.
