Joe Rogan has revealed why he chooses to skip certain UFC events, and why he will miss Belal Muhammad’s first world title defence at UFC 315 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada in May.
Despite being synonymous with the Octagon, Rogan only makes appearances for pay-per-view events in the United States and most recently appeared at UFC 313 in Las Vegas on the 8th of March. Rogan has confirmed that he will be present at UFC 314 in Miami, Florida next month, but will miss the following UFC event in Montreal, Canada in May, an event that will include Muhammad vs Jack Della Maddalena in the welterweight title bout and Valentina Shevchenko vs Manon Fiorot in the Women’s flyweight title bout.
Rogan confirmed that the reason he will miss UFC 315 is his unwillingness to travel to Canada. On his podcast, Rogan said: “I will not be there. I don’t go to Canada anymore, I don’t.”
Rogan said that he would “rather go to Russia” than Canada. Rogan then told the story of meeting with Donald Trump, where he referred to Justin Trudeau, the former Canadian Prime Minister, as “Governor Trudeau.”
Rogan prefers to watch UFC fights from his home in Austin, Texas these days, rather than attend the international events in person, due to his dislike for travelling long distances.

Michael Bisping Explains Joe Rogan’s Schedule
Rogan’s dislike of travelling means he no longer does shows outside of America
Michael Bisping explained Rogan’s situation on the recent Jaxxon Podcast, saying: “He doesn’t want to travel anymore. So he only does pay-per-views and then, if it’s like in Australia [such as UFC 312], I’ll be doing that one. But then they mix it up between me, Dominick Cruz, and Paul Felder because we all want to do the pay-per-views because, you know, but they’ve got their team set. They’ve got Joe Rogan, Jon Anik, and Daniel Cormier. You know what I mean, if one of those can’t make it, then they kick it down to the B-team.”
Joe Rogan’s UFC Career
He is one of Dana White’s most-trusted guys
In recent years, Rogan has embedded himself in the sport of UFC with his trademark shrieks and passion for combat, making him the undisputed voice of the sport. He initially joined the UFC in 1997 as a backstage interviewer, before eventually working his way up to a commentary position and immediately making an impression on viewers with his immense enthusiasm for the sport.
Rogan struck up a friendship with UFC president Dana White, with the head honcho saying on the Lex Fridman podcast: “Anybody who is with me and has been with me knows, when you’re with me, you’re with me. It’s a two-way street. Joe Rogan has been very loyal to me, and I am very loyal to Joe Rogan.
“It’s a fact that he doesn’t care about money, and he did the first 13 shows free for us. That was at a time when we were hurting, and he was like, ‘Wait a minute. Do you want me to do the commentary? You’re saying I get to sit in the best seat in the house and watch these fights for free? Yeah, I’m in’. Then, obviously, when he turned things around, we made it up to Joe, but Joe is one of the things I loved early about [the UFC].”
