João Félix wants to leave Atlético Madrid and sign for Barcelona. The 23-year-old was not at Atlético’s training session on Friday for “personal reasons”.
As reported by Mundo Deportivo, his salary (€14.5m gross) is the main problem for Barça to make a bid for the wantaway Portuguese forward.
Having fallen out of favour under Diego Simeone, the former Benfica man is hoping for a last-minute move.
President of Atlético Madrid, Enrique Cerezo, acknowledged yesterday that they are waiting for the issue to be resolved as soon as possible and that they are waiting for Barça to make a move to sign him.
“He is an Atlético Madrid player. We are waiting to see how the issue is resolved. We will know soon. He already said he wanted to go to a specific team, which is Barcelona, and we are waiting to see if they decide or not,” Cerezo said.
