João Cancelo has spoken in an interview with 1PARA1, the podcast of Pedro Pinto, UEFA’s former director general of communications and the Portugal international revealed which Barcelona player impressed him most when he arrived from Manchester City.
In words picked up by MD, Cancelo said: “Without a doubt, Frenkie de Jong. Gündogan is also great but I already knew him from Manchester City. The biggest impact I’ve seen here in terms of quality has been Frenkie de Jong. If you trained with him or watched him train, you would realise that he has different things.”
He added: “I’ve always been a Barcelona fan. Of course, more so in the golden era, from about 2008 onwards. I grew up watching the best team in football, which is Barcelona in 2009, and many of my idols played here. So it was easy to adapt, among other things because I really like the club, and I really like the dynamics of the club. It has been very easy to adapt.”
