Eintracht Frankfurt confirmed on Tuesday that Jérôme Onguéné has been allowed to speak to another club about joining them.
Fussball Transfers are reporting that Onguéné will be returning to Red Bull Salzburg on loan unless another club comes in before the deal is done. Onguéné joined Frankfurt from RB Salzburg on a free transfer last summer but has been unable to play any minutes for Frankfurt since his move.
Onguéné spent five years at Salzburg and played a total of 111 games for the Austrian team while also spending six months on loan at Genoa in Italy.
The 25-year-old has experienced several injuries at Frankfurt which has meant he has struggled to break into the team and has only been able to make the bench against Borussia Dortmund and Augsburg in the league, and in the Champions League against Olympique Marseille and Sporting.
On Wednesday, Frankfurt travel to the UAE for the week-long winter training camp where they will play a friendly against Lech Poznań.
