Jérémy Le Douaron set to depart Brest for Serie B

Even by the admission of sporting director Grégory Lorenzi, it has been a difficult transfer window for Stade Brestois. Despite the temptation of UEFA Champions League football, the Breton club have found it difficult to add quality and depth to the side.

Worse than that, they approach the season weaker than they finished the last. Lilian Brassier left to join Olympique de Marseille, Steve Mounié’s contract expired, whilst Martín Satriano returned to parent club Inter Milan before returning to France to join RC Lens.

For many of those players, it was perhaps a logical next step in their careers. However, does the same ring true for Jérémy Le Douaron (26)? After four years at the club, he is set to join Serie B side Palermo, according to L’Équipe. Last season, he was a key figure for Brest, featuring 35 times in all competitions, scoring four goals. He also started the Ligue 1 opener against Marseille earlier this month. A surprise move for Le Douaron, who instead of competing in the Champions League, will spend the season in Italy’s second tier.
