As reported by SPORT1, Jamal Musiala has withdrawn from the Germany squad due to a torn hamstring injury.
The 20-year-old was due to feature in Hansi Flick’s squad to face Peru and Belgium over the next week. However, the attacking midfielder picked up the injury during Bayern Munich’s 2-1 loss against Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday.
Musiala didn’t start for Bayern but was introduced in the 46th minute to replace Thomas Müller. The strain didn’t stop him from playing but it’s clear that the youngster needs to rest and not aggravate the injury anymore.
Musiala is going to be a crucial player in Flick’s plans for the European Championships in 2024 in Germany. Despite not having him for the upcoming friendlies, Musiala’s spot in the starting 11 is unlikely to change.
For Musiala personally, it’s important for him to be ready for Bayern Munich’s next Bundesliga fixtures against Borussia Dortmund on April 1st. Bayern go into the international 2nd in the table following a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Bayer Leverkusen. If BVB win der klassiker, they’ll be four points clear at the top.
