Sport Bild recently claimed that Xavi Simons is causing problems in the RB Leipzig dressing room because of his ego and his reluctance to accept advice and criticism.

But publicly, at least, the Dutchman shows a willingness to accept that there is room for improvement for him and that the team must always come first.

“Everyone has to improve – including me. But at the end of the day, we’re all human. Not everything is perfect all the time. But we work hard to make the fans happy in the end. That’s the process and it’s getting better,” Xavi Simons told Sport Bild.

“It’s not about Xavi. It’s about RB Leipzig. We have to solve things together – and we will. We still have nine games and are in the cup. We will continue to train hard for that,” he added.

With RB Leipzig currently in sixth place, three points behind fourth-placed Eintracht Frankfurt, Xavi Simons is optimistic about his side’s chances of qualifying for the Champions League.

“That is very important for me. And we will achieve it (Champions League qualification),” he stressed.

Leipzig, who have won just one of their last nine Bundesliga games, continue their campaign with a home game against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.
