‘It’s a game of mistakes, I’d be worried if we didn’t have chances’ – Luis Enrique responds to PSG finishing criticism

Speaking ahead of Paris Saint-Germain’s trip to Le Havre on Sunday, manager Luis Enrique responded to criticism of his side’s finishing ability in front of goal. The following was transcribed by RMC Sport. 

“It’s very funny,” began Enrique in an agitated manner. “If we have a problem finishing then what about everything else? It’s a game of mistakes. I’d be worried if we didn’t have the chances. I’m not worried. You miss chances, that’s football, but please… Of course, when a player misses a chance… the problem would be not creating chances.” 

Les Parisiens scored only one goal from 4.47 expected goals against Newcastle, a negative differential of 3.47 which is the highest for any time in the Champions League since Opta collected data on the competition in 2013/14. Enrique’s side managed to equalise against the Geordies through a penalty controversially given for handball in the last minute of injury time.
