With Julian Brandt’s contract set to expire this summer, Borussia Dortmund and the midfielder have been in talks about his future for some time.
But as the 29-year-old told Ruhr Nachrichten after scoring in Dortmund’s 2-1 win over Wolfsburg on Saturday, no decision has been made yet.
“It’s clear that we’re talking to each other. That has already happened, but so far there’s nothing new. It’s neither the case that we’re close to an agreement nor that anything has been decided,” Brandt said.
It has been reported that Dortmund made Brandt an offer in mid-November, which he is still considering.
“To be honest, I’m also taking a bit of time. But this won’t drag on until June or July. That’s not my style. It’s a fundamental decision and it has to be carefully thought through,” he explained.
Brandt has been with Dortmund since 2019, tallying 56 goals and 68 assists in 292 appearances.
