Inter Milan have made contact with Manchester United over a deal to sign misfiring striker Rasmus Hojlund this summer, The Telegraph has revealed.
The Dane managed to net just four times in 32 outings in the Premier League last term – less than half of what he managed in his debut season prior. He was labelled as one of the worst players in the competition, and it has led fans to lose trust in his presence at centre-forward.
The prospect of Hojlund staying at Old Trafford beyond this summer has not been ruled out, but he could yet see through a move back to Italy amid interest from clubs in Serie A.
The striker could leave this summer
As per the report from The Telegraph, Inter have made “informal inquiries” regarding the possibility of signing Hojlund this summer. It is thought that the Red Devils are holding out for a fee in the region of £40 million to sanction a sale.
The Champions League finalists would reportedly prefer an initial loan with either an option or obligation to buy at a later date, though Manchester United would prefer a permanent transfer in an attempt to raise funds for boss Ruben Amorim’s club rebuild.

It is unlikely the club will be able to recoup the £72 million they coughed up to sign Hojlund from Atalanta in 2023, but the 22-year-old, previously dubbed “sensational”, is still thought of highly by suitors in the Italian top division, despite a season of poor form. Manchester United could soften the financial blow of the transfer by taking advantage of Inter’s interest and cashing in on the forward.
Meanwhile, United have moved to secure the signature of former Wolverhampton Wanderers attacker Matheus Cunha in a £62.5 million deal. They have now turned their attention towards completing a deal for Brentford wide man Bryan Mbeumo as they look to strengthen their attack with proven Premier League quality.
