Bayer Leverkusen have received a significant injury boost in their Bundesliga title fight.
Speaking to Bild, Simon Rolfes has provided an injury update on Victor Boniface, stating that the Nigerian forward is “on schedule” after he was able to put away his crutches last week.
Boniface returned to light running duties on Tuesday in Leverkusen, and he could make his comeback in April after undergoing surgery on his adductor at the beginning of January, which ruled him out of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The 23-year-old is Bayer’s top scorer this season with 16 goals and eight assists in 23 games across all competitions.
Exequiel Palacios also nears his Bayer Leverkusen return
As further reported by Bild, Bayer Leverkusen hope that Exequiel Palacios will return to the squad for their derby against FC Köln on Sunday afternoon. The 25-year-old has been absent for the last five weeks after suffering a muscular injury in his right thigh during the club’s 3-2 win against RB Leipzig.
Palacios continued to train individually on Tuesday.
