Clarification regarding the surprise recent speculation linking Iñigo Martínez with a move back to La Liga champions Barcelona has come to the fore online.
This comes amid the assurance that no such transfer is on the cards as things stand.
The name of defender Iñigo returned to the forefront of the headlines in Catalunya’s capital with a bang over the last couple of days.
As much came after it was suggested that the 34-year-old was eyeing a swift Camp Nou comeback, following his summer departure for Saudi Arabia.
With Hansi Flick’s squad having sorely missed the talents of their former defensive leader across the season to date, interest in such a reunion was even labelled as mutual.
As alluded to above, however, if the latest update on the situation to have surfaced is anything to go by, then the Blaugrana faithful need not get their hopes up.
As per a report from Diario Sport:
‘Despite the rumours that had surfaced in the last few hours about a hypothetical return of the Basque in this winter market, SPORT has been able to verify that there is no chance that the operation could be a reality.’
