A couple of illustrious Italian clubs, including Juventus and Inter, has shown interest in signing Andrea Cambiaso from Genoa this summer.
While speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport (as quoted by Tutto Juve), Cambiaso expressed his intention to play at the top level of football in Italy. He said,
“The fact that my name appears close to those of big clubs is only a privilege and an honor. It’s nice, but I live it in a serene way. Nothing more.
“At the beginning, I was playing attacking midfielder and I fell in love with Dybala . When he was playing for Palermo he came to Marassi and scored a crazy goal against Genoa. I was at the stadium and he hit me. Then, I became a full-back and there I am very inspired by Cancelo . I always watch his games.”
Last season, the 22-year-old full-back played 26 matches in Serie A for Genoa, amassing one goal and four assists. Though, his efforts were not enough to help the Rossoblù avoid Serie A relegation at the end of the 2021/22 campaign.
Juventus have reportedly edged past Inter in the race for Cambiaso. He is considered a long-term replacement for Alex Sandro, who has a contract with the Old Lady until June 2023.
