Speaking at a press conference attended by Get French Football News Marseille manager Roberto De Zerbi hit back at reports of OM players refusing to train after Roberto De Zerbi said he would not take Monday’s training session. Whilst not denying that none of the events reported by L’Équipe happened, De Zerbi rallied against what he believed was false reporting.
“I don’t know what the effect of my management style will be. I do know that we needed to break our routine,” said De Zerbi on the sharpening of his management with his players this week. “I don’t have fear of people who don’t agree with me. Everything here has to be done with 100% effort.”
“I know things will come out. I even know who talks to you (the press). I’m not going to publicly say to protect their identity. I know that in these stories there are things that are not true. I come from a more polemic country in Italy.”
According to a report from L’Équipe, Roberto De Zerbi faced a mutiny from Marseille players after reportedly informing the squad that he was not going to take Monday’s training session.
De Zerbi told players “I won’t train you today,” on Monday at the Commanderie training ground in Marseille. In response, players had felt abandoned by the Italian coach and retorted “Then we won’t train either.”
