Kicker reports that Pellegrino Matarazzo will stay on as Hoffenheim coach following the club’s recent results.
Pellegrino Matarazzo is under pressure as Hoffenheim coach after a disappointing start to the season.
There has even been speculation that Hoffenheim could sack Matarazzo during the current international break.
However, according to Kicker, the club have decided to keep Matarazzo in charge for now after their recent performances.
After beating Dynamo Kyiv 2-0 in the Europa League, Matarazzo’s men nearly beat Stuttgart in the Bundesliga, but ultimately got a 1-1 draw after a late equaliser.
Before that game, Hoffenheim goalkeeper Oliver Baumann backed Matarazzo to stay, saying after the 2-0 win over Dynamo Kyiv:
“There is a lot of common ground between coach and team.”
However, with Hoffenheim currently 16th in the Bundesliga, it’s clear that things will have to improve if Matarazzo is to stay in the long term.
The Sinsheim side could now take advantage of a favorable run of fixtures against Bochum, Heidenheim, St. Pauli and Augsburg to move away from the relegation zone.
