TSG Hoffenheim’s Kevin Akpoguma has been dealt a one-game suspension for his red card in Sunday’s 5-1 defeat to Bayern Munich.
In the 17th-minute, Luis Diaz went down under the pressure of a challenge from the 30-year-old inside the penalty area.
Match referee Tobias Stieler judged the action to be denial of a goal-scoring opportunity and sent Akpoguma off who was the last defender.
The DFB sports court has now delivered it’s verdict of “unsportsmanlike conduct” despite some claims that it wasn’t a red card offence.
Regardless, the German-born Nigerian international will be unavailable this Saturday as Hoffenheim host SC Freiburg at 15:30 CET.
