Center-back Dedryck Boyata is getting closer and closer to his desired move away from Hertha, as the capital club share similar feelings. They’re currently looking for any takers, but haven’t found a serious option quite yet. Boyata was stripped of his captaincy this year in favor of left-back Marvin Plattenhardt.
In today’s press conference Fredi Bobic stated that, “It may already be that (Boyata) will still be transferred this transfer period. This is possible.” Bobic had previously said that, “We don’t have the feeling that he can help bring us forward at the moment.”
Boyata badly needs playing time to secure a spot on Belgian’s national team for the upcoming World Cup. Coach Sandro Schwarz did not include the 31-year-old in Hertha’s squad on Matchday 1 for the Berlin derby.
His contract expires in 2024.
