Jonathan Burkardt was forced off late in Mainz’s 3-0 Bundesliga win over Holstein Kiel on Sunday.
Fortunately for Die Nullfünfer, the 24-year-old didn’t suffer a severe injury.
“I thought it was a serious injury, but in the end it was just a cramp. That’s good for us,” said Mainz coach Bo Henriksen with a smile on his face in the post-match interview.
That means there should be nothing to stop Burkardt from playing in Mainz’s clash with Hoffenheim on Sunday.
Burkardt’s goal against Holstein Kiel took his tally for Mainz to 8 goals in all competitions this season.
