RB Leipzig – according to information from Kicker Magazine – will be out for many months after tearing his Achilles tendon in last night’s league loss to Bayern. The 27-year-old had to be stretched off the pitch in injury time with what both RBL captain Willi Orban and Leipzig head-coach Marco Rose confirmed was “a very serious injury”.
The 19-times-capped German international will be sorely missed by the German Red Bulls. Henrichs featured in all 15 league and all six Champions’ League fixtures this season. Leipzig’s already thin defensive ranks must now cope with another long-term absence. The nature of the injury could potentially sideline Henrichs for the rest of the season.
