‘He won’t be here in the near future’: Luis Enrique appears to confirm Kylian Mbappé departure

Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique appears to have confirmed the impending departure of Kylian Mbappé (25) following the Parisians’ 2-0 win ( 4-0 aggregate) over Real Sociedad in San Sebastian.

As reported in GFFN, Mbappé is widely rumoured to have agreed a deal to join Spanish league leaders Real Madrid upon the expiration of his PSG contract in the summer, but Enrique’s words are the first from the club alluding to that prospect:

” Kylian, I’m not just discovering him today. You already know my opinion on him: He’s the best player in the world. He’ll score 50 goals and provide 25 assists in any team with any coach and unfortunately he won’t be here in the near future so we will have to test other teammates of his”

It is widely believed that the Spanish giants are the only team in the running for the Frenchman’s signature, although recent reports suggest that things might not be as clear cut as first expected. Indeed, Mbappé met with French president Emmanuel Macron and the Emir of Qatar last week and, although the reasons for the meeting are unclear, some suggest that it may be part of a last ditch attempt to convince the superstar to remain in Paris.

Others, such as La Liga chief Javier Tebas, are convinced that the deal with Real Madrid is almost certain, and tonight’s quotes from coach Enrique would seem to confirm that this is the case.
