21-year-old Rocco Reitz has been one of the bright spots for Borussia Mönchengladbach this season, having started three games in a row for Die Fohlen.
With Manu Koné and Christoph Kramer both back from injury, it remains to be seen whether the 21-year-old will hold on to his place in the starting line-up in the long term, but he has certainly put himself in a good position for playing time.
“Rocco has made great steps forward,” said Gladbach coach Gerardo Seoane after Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at RB Leipzig.
“He brings aggressiveness and also has a good eye for solving situations going forward.”
Reitz is a product of Gladbach’s own youth academy and has previously spent time on loan at Belgian side Sint-Truidense VV. He recently extended his contract with Gladbach until 2026.
Winless after their opening five Bundesliga matches, Gladbach will be looking for their first league win of the season when they travel to Bochum on Saturday.
