Harry Kane’s goal and assist for Bayern Munich and Real Madrid last night takes the 30-year-old’s goal contribution tally in this season’s Champions League to 11 (eight goals, three assists), the most ever by an English player in a single campaign, report Opta.
With 43 goals and 11 assists in 43 games across all competitions for Bayern Munich this season, Kane is having a stellar campaign. And it was his goal from the spot against Real on Tuesday night that put Bayern Munich in a 2-1 lead, that was before Vinicius Jr. equalised from the spot at the other end with seven minutes remaining, levelling the tie at 2-2 with it all to play for at the Santiago Bernabéu next week.
In preparing for his penalty, compatriot and Los Blancos midfielder Jude Bellingham played mind games with Kane but speaking after the game, Bayern’s forward was focused on the task at hand and didn’t even take note of what Bellingham said, that was until he asked his opponent after the game.
