HSV have offered to pay the Holstein Kiel midfielder’s release clause.
Hamburg SV have activated the release clause for Nicolai Remberg, Sky Germany has announced.
A fee of €2.4million will be paid by the Hanseatic club on their return to the Bundesliga.
The 24-year-old will undergo a medical in Hamburg before the deal is officially finalised.
Remberg played a part in 32 Bundesliga games for Holstein Kiel this season before they suffered relegation.
Originally from Preußen Munster, the German is capable of playing in both defensive and offensive roles in midfield.
