Bayern Munich are no longer at the top of the Bundesliga table as the German champions failed to regain the lead from Borussia Dortmund on Sunday, losing 2-1 to Bayer Leverkusen.
Despite the setback, Bayern president Herbert Hainer remains convinced that Julian Nagelsmann is the right man for the job.
“I think Julian has come a long way. He is a top coach who proved against Paris that he is tactically and strategically excellent at the highest European level,” Hainer said in an interview with Kicker.
Having signed a five-year contract in 2021, Nagelsmann is the “perfect fit” for Bayern, according to Hainer.
“We are planning for the long term with him, we have documented this with a five-year contract, because we want to build something with him,” Hainer stressed, adding:
“You can see clear progress in these one and a half years. Julian is doing very well. The discussion about his coaching came from outside, we didn’t start it.”
