Both Germany’s main sporting tabloid and its preeminent footballing publication are now reporting that Portuguese international Raphaël Guerreiro has decided to depart Dortmund.

Reports began surfacing in Westphalia’s “Ruhr Nachrichten” this morning that – one day after Dortmund’s dramatic loss of the Bundesliga title – Raphaël Guerreiro has decided to firmly and unequivocally reject the BVB’s latest attempt to sign him to a contract extension. Germany’s “Sport Bild” tabloid confirmed the report later in the day. Now Germany’s Kicker Magazine is also treating it as fact after multiple corroborations.

The 29-year-old evidently wishes to seek out new challenges and test the market as a free-agent this summer. Sport Bild claims that Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl, head-coach Edin Terzic, and club boss Acki Watzke already organized a send-off for Guerreiro with his teammates. Guerreiro departs Dortmund after seven seasons, in which he scored 40 goals in 223 appearances across all competitions.
