Eintracht’s hopes for European football now rest on the DFB Pokal. SGE trainer Glasner had some bad news to report on that front. Lead-striker Randal Kolo Muani may not be available for Wednesday’s semi-final encounter.
“If you see the performance today, you have to say that it was just incomprehensible,” Krösche told Sky Germany afterwards, “We have to win the game today with all our might. We didn’t do that. It was a bad game.”
Keeper Kevin Trapp and captain Sebastian Rode – while also noting some positive aspects – essentially agreed with the manager’s sentiments. Both players used the phrase “bad game” to sum up how they felt about the overall effort. Recent comments from Glasner about “the team not deserving Europe” were affirmed.
Rode sought to drum up some enthusiasm for Wednesday’s Pokal semi-final encounter with VfB Stuttgart. Even if European qualification via the table now seems out of reach, the Hessians can still secure a UEL spot by winning the country’s domestic cup.
It nevertheless looks as if a very serious problem developing in that area. Talismanic lead-striker Randal Kolo Muani couldn’t play on Saturday due to adductor issues. Glasner briefly commented on the Frenchman’s prospects of playing on Wednesday during his interview.
“I’m afraid that the problems will last until that,” Glasner said.
