Borussia Mönchengladbach beat RB Leipzig 3-1 in the final to win the U17 Bundesliga for only the second time in their history.
Borussia Mönchengladbach have lifted the U17 German championship for the first time in the Bundesliga era. The Foals were one of the early champions, having beaten Eintracht Frankfurt in the 1980–81 final.
Since then, they haven’t even reached the final of this competition until this season. They beat five-time champions Bayern Munich 3-1 to reach the final against RB Leipzig, who dispatched Stuttgart 5-1 last week.
Substitute Can Armando Güner was the star of the show in the final as he scored a brace in the last ten minutes of the game. It was Leipzig’s second time reaching the U17 final, but they were on the losing side on both occasions. Dortmund won the competition last season for a record eighth time.
