Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has on Friday confirmed some altogether welcome personnel news in his squad. This comes in the form of confirmation that Blaugrana no.1 Joan García has returned to match fitness.
Shot-stopper Joan has for his part spent the last couple of weeks condemned to the treatment table in Catalunya’s capital.
After suffering a knee injury en route to Barcelona’s drubbing of Racing Santander last month, the 25-year-old was forced to sit out his side’s ensuing victory over Sevilla. Joan was also left with no choice but to withdraw from the Spanish national team squad for the international break.
Recent days, though, saw the former Espanyol man take significant strides forward in his recovery, spotted back amongst the group at the Ciutat Esportiva.
Speaking during a press conference ahead of his side’s meeting with Getafe on Saturday, the aforementioned Hansi Flick was therefore drawn on Joan’s status for the clash.
And Barca’s headmaster went on to confirm:
“Based on what we’ve seen today, Joan is doing very well, and I think he’ll be able to start.”
