Whether Lars Stindl stays at Gladbach beyond the summer is still up in the air, as the 34-year-old is yet to decide what he wants to do, according to the club’s sporting director, Roland Virkus.

Borussia Mönchengladbach want to extend Lars Stindl’s expiring contract, but are currently waiting for the 34-year-old to make a decision on his future, says sporting director Roland Virkus.
“Of course we want to extend Lars’ contract,” Virkus emphasized at a press conference ahead of this weekend’s game against Schalke 04.
“But both parties have to want that. Lars is 34 years old, so it’s quite normal to think about the future. Either he stays with us or he goes back to his home area to do something else. Those are his current thoughts. It’s a very normal process.
“We have to give Lars the time to make the decision for his family and himself. We see Lars as an important part of our team. He’s a leader, but he can also help build and guide a new leadership structure, which is very important for a club.”
