Borussia Mönchengladbach will be without Yann Sommer until further notice after the duo sustained injuries during yesterday’s 2-1 DFB-Pokal defeat against Darmstadt.
Sommer suffered an ankle injury and will “in all likelihood” be replaced by second-choice goalkeeper Tobias Sommer “in the next few games,” the club said in a statement.
Hofmann will be “absent for the time being” after sustaining a dislocated shoulder without further structural damage.
On the bright side for Hofmann, Gladbach and Germany, the midfielder’s participation at the World Cup is not at risk.
