Gladbach may be willing to pay for Kownacki now

Germany’s main sporting tabloid reports that Borussia Mönchengladbach may be prepared to shell out some cash in the upcoming transfer window for the services of Fortuna Düsseldorf striker David Kownacki.

The foals may have found an affordable attacking reinforcement in a city less than half-an-hour away.  

The F95 striker actually has 30 top-flight appearances and four league goals to his credit during time spent with Düsseldorf in the top division. A solid season in the 2. Bundesliga this year pumps his current market value up to a high, yet still affordable, €2.5 million. According to Germany’s Sport Bild, Borussia Mönchengladbach may be willing to spend this as part of their dual solution for Marcus Thuram’s departure.

Kownacki has already noted that he will not re-sign with the Flingeraner. The article notes that his family nevertheless feels comfortable in Düsseldorf. A move to Gladbach (a short 34 kms away from Düsseldorf) would thus be very appealing. Kownacki could conceivably sign a long-term deal that won’t necessitate uprooting.
