Yan Couto is finding his best form in Spain and is enjoying an excellent season with Girona in La Liga. Míchel’s work has not gone unnoticed since he arrived in the Catalan city, coaching a club that also wants to take advantage of the City Group. The City Group are keeping an eye on South America to bring in the continent’s up-and-coming players and send them to clubs around Europe, which has seen Couto and Sávio make the move to Catalonia, where they have flourished to date.
Brazilian right-back Couto, with little time to experience professional football in Brazil with Coritiba, packed his bags and headed to England to sign for Manchester City, before joining Girona on loan. Now in his third season with the high-flying La Liga side, Couto himself is aware of the impressive campaign Míchel’s side are having, something that has given him the opportunity to represent Brazil.
“This year I had a change of mentality, and I’m being the best version of myself. Everything is going quickly, but I’m happy to be here [Brazil]… it’s a reward for what I’ve done at the club,” the attacking right-back explained at a press conference in words reported by AS.
