Girona vs Getafe Preview
To finish off the second round of LaLiga fixtures we have Girona hosting Getafe on Monday night at the Estadi Montilivi. Both come off losses in their first games so it should be an interesting affair.
Girona were a little unlucky in their first game back in the top flight. They caused Valencia some problems and when their hosts went down to ten men when defender Eray Comert took out striker Taty Castellanos in the 52nd minute, it was their time to pounce. Michel’s side pushed but just couldn’t find a goal.
Montilivi will be rocking on Monday night and Head Coach Michel will know how important it is to get off to winning ways at home. He said at the start of the season his aim was to have Girona finish with the highest points tally they have ever had in LaLiga which will be a tough ask as they finished on 51 points in the 2017/18 season. The fans will be right behind Girona in this one and the players need to feed off that energy and to put on a display and take their chances if they are to pick up a win here.
Getafe are coming into this game a little shell-shocked. A 3-0 loss in their opening game to Atletico Madrid wasn’t the start Head Coach Quique Sánchez Flores wanted or expected but it is what it is. His side now has to dust themselves down and go again.
Registering ten goal attempts with zero on target is a slight worry and that is something that needs to be rectified going into this game. Los Azulones will be looking at the likes of Jaime Mata who is fully fit now and Borja Mayoral to get more goals this season alongside Turkish international Enes Unal who hit 16 goals last year. A win here would be a nice kickstart and a confidence builder.
