The powers that be at La Liga outfit Girona are readying themselves for an imminent big-money offer for a leading member of the club’s attacking ranks.
That’s according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, who points towards Artem Dovbyk as the player in question.
The name of frontman Dovbyk has of course positioned itself front and centre in the Spanish media headlines across the summer to date.
This comes amid the widespread expectation that the Ukrainian – fresh off clinching the Pichichi prize – will soon be on the move.
Atlético Madrid, until very recently, were considered the clear-cut favourites to secure his signature, amid ongoing efforts to replace Álvaro Morata.
With the Rojiblancos now seemingly out of the picture, however, it is one of Italian football’s giants who are pushing hardest to bring Dovbyk in.
As per the aforementioned Fabrizio Romano:
‘AS Roma have [a] first bid ready for Artem Dovbyk, it will be [a] package worth €35m, add-ons included.’
The player, for his part, has already agreed on the terms of a five-year contract at the Stadio Olimpico, with talks between Roma and Girona, in turn, set to be kicked into gear this week.
