With their lead now cut down to five points after yesterday’s home defeat to Lorient, Paris Saint-Germain are some way off wrapping up their record-breaking 11th league title, with Marseille still hot on their heels ahead of the season run-in.
Despite seemingly returning to form in the last few weeks, the league leaders were outplayed by a confident Lorient side at the Parc des Princes, with Régis Le Bris’ men taking charge of the game early on. The Bretons sealed the win with a late third goal on the counter, as striker Bamba Dieng found himself with the entire attacking half of the pitch to run into and only Gianluigi Donnarumma to beat.
Facing the media after the game, the Italian indicated that he and his teammates were frustrated at the result, and at their middling home form of late – this Sunday’s result was their third defeat at the Parc des Princes this Ligue 1 season. Donnarumma, though, was adamant that the Parisians were not “in crisis“:
“Absolutely not. But we are angry and disappointed. We wanted to have a good game, but unfortunately we’ve dropped too many points at home this year, in front of our fans.”
“We hear a lot of things around us, but we are concentrated on finishing the season well, which is important for everyone. […] We have to understand what went wrong. We are annoyed and we have to show that on the pitch.”
