Germany’s training session on Tuesday missed three players in Mario Götze, Matthias Ginter and Christian Günter who did not train due to load management. Instead they completed their own personal training programmes. Antonio Rüdiger and Thomas Müller also missed training again due to the same reason.
This was Germany’s second training in Muscat as they prepare for the World Cup. On Wednesday, Germany play their only friendly before the tournament as they face Oman. Germany then open their tournament against Japan next Wednesday in Doha at the Khalifa International Stadium followed by games against Spain and Costa Rica.
Marc-André ter Stegen was also missing from training as he is experiencing a gastrointestinal infection so did not travel with the team at all when they left Frankfurt for Oman late on Monday.
Ahead of the World Cup, Hansi Flick praised Mario Götze, who has been called-up to the national team for the first time since November 2017.
