Gennaro Gattuso pushing Valencia to sign Napoli’s Matteo Politano

Gennaro Gattuso wants to bring in new players to strengthen the squat at Valencia and has subsequently identified Matteo Politano as a potential target.

According to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Gennaro Gattuso is keen on reuniting with his former protege in Matteo Politano, who intends to leave Napoli this summer.

The report understands that Valencia are willing to cash in on the situation. The new Valencia boss has reportedly made fresh contacts with the selling club and the player’s entourage.

But, first of all, the Spanish side will have to offload some players before thinking of landing the left-footed winger. Politano, 28, likes the idea of playing in Spain.

Although he has a contract in Naples until June 2024, Napoli could opt against keeping hold of the former Roma player. Gattuso continues to insist on the player as he, together with the Valencia board, is pondering upon the ways to take the dormant giants of La Liga back to the new heights of glory.

Napoli have already lost Lorenzo Insigne, who has joined Toronto FC on a free transfer. Losing Politano could thus leave severe effects on the overall balance of the roster.
