The all-time leading goalscorer in Napoli’s history, Dries Mertens remains a free agent. However, he has no shortage of potential suitors amid the summer transfer window.
According to transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Galatasaray have now emerged as a serious candidate in the pursuit of Dries Mertens.
Nevertheless, the report claims that the Turkish club will have to raise their offer in a bid to match the player’s wage demand of around €5 million per season.
It is also suggested that both Marseille and Ajax are closely monitoring the situation.
Since leaving the Naples-based club as a free agent earlier in the summer, the 35-year-old superstar has not managed to find a new club.
Reports have also confirmed Juventus’ interest in getting the player on board to reinforce their attacking department.
An experienced campaigner, Mertens will evaluate all the offers on his table before coming to a judgement regarding his future move in the approaching days.
