Hoffenheim have announced the departure of Mijat Gacinovic, who has signed for AEK Athens on a permanent basis.

Gacinovic, who spent the second half of last season on loan with Panathinaikos, will ink up with former Hoffenheim player Steven Zuber at AEK.

“We decided to send Mijat out on loan in the winter, as he did not get the playing time he had hoped for due to our squad situation. A very good six months then followed in Athens. Panathinaikos won the Cup, and Mijat was in focus in Greece,” said Hoffenheim director of professional football Alexander Rosen.

“We now wish him all the best for the future, because we have always seen Mijat as a great team player.”

Gacinovic featured a total of 38 times for Hoffenheim, scoring once and making four assists.
