Gabriel Jesus Arsenal announcement date ‘revealed’ as Raphinha edges closer to Emirates transfer

Gabriel Jesus’ Arsenal announcement date has been revealed, if recent reports are to be believed. The Brazilian has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates this summer as discussions continue over a switch.

The Manchester City forward could help solve a key issue that has plagued Mikel Arteta over the past season. The Gunners have been without a goal-scoring striker, something that has only been emphasised by the exit of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

On the search for a striker, the manager said: “He [whoever signs must] puts the ball in the net – that’s priority number one. Goal threat. Any successful team needs enough goal threat in the squad. Without it, you have nothing.

“You can play good football, but you need enough goal threat in the team. The other thing is that he has to complement the other people we have, personally and on the pitch. We need the right profile.”

It appears as though Jesus matches that profile. The 25-year-old’s ability to press, run beyond and play a number of positions fits Arteta’s style, while his goal-scoring is a positive for the side.

Reports have suggested that talks have continued to progress, with £45million agreed with Manchester City for the signing. And, according to ESPN Brazil reporter Joao Castelo-Branco, the announcement of his signing could be Monday, June 27.

It would mark another arrival for the Gunners, with the side also linked with a move for compatriot Raphinha. Should the deals go through, it may be a huge statement of intent for next season.
